Tourists may not like the loss of idiosyncrasies that the easing of US Cuban diplomatic relations may bring. Escorted tours are not normally something I warm to. But I had been lured by a trip aimed at 18 to thirtysomethings that promised ample time for independent exploration.
Anyone giving NOLA a hard time ought to be ashamed of themselves. Look, where most of the Gulf Coast suffered a catastrophic natural disaster, in New Orleans, it was a preventable man made disaster caused first and foremost by the failing of the levees whose maintenance was underfunded by the Bush Administration despite grave warnings long before Katrina hit and compounded by the same administration incompetence and utter neglect of the city after Katrina hit. Most of the city residents had their homes and livelihoods destroyed.
David: Best way to make the most of your VIP tix might be to make frequent use of the nice bathrooms you’ll get to use. I think that might be the best perk, but don’t underestimate the value of that at a day long event like this. I think some other perks include the opportunity to buy even MORE expensive food and drink.
Being a Muslim we’ve got a totally different version of the story. If it provokes a sincere sense of guilt, even better. The expectation that it would be factually true to the extent that everyone would agree is amazing. Stripes such as a vertically striped top can be a good way of elongating your body frame. It’s wise to avoid tops and blouses with high necklines, such as turtlenecks. The turtleneck will draw attention away from the waist.
Since late January, when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began ramping up its emergency response, the number of reported Zika cases has exploded, from about 50 to more than 25,600 in the United States, most of which are in Puerto Rico. That includes more than 2,300 pregnant women. The true number of cases is likely much higher, perhaps as high as 128,000, because 80 percent of people infected with the virus don’t have symptoms and don’t realize they’re infected.
Why exactly do we care about domestic violence in the NFL? It’s not because football players are our nation’s leading batterers of women. (In the Atlantic last week, Conor Friedersdorf nominated police officers for that honor.) It’s because domestic violence is a problem bigger than football, one too easily perpetrated in homes across America and excused by law enforcement, and one that is (again) overwhelmingly committed by male partners who exert physical, social, and financial control to keep their victims in their power. Meanwhile, no institution rivals football in its power to exert social and financial pressure on American men and boys.
