The most intriguing results in the paper are the analyses of the “fuel” before the experiment and the “ash” after the experiment, which were performed using several different types of high tech equipment (X ray photoelectron spectroscopy, dispersive X ray spectroscopy, secondary ion mass spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry). The researchers found that there was an “isotopic shift” in the materials. Here, for example, are the results from the secondary ion mass spectrometry analysis:.
In a world where social media is king, writing books can be viewed as America’s pastime like baseball or listening to cassette tapes and CDs. Lately, nostalgia has been on the rise and at times it feels like we’re stuck inside a time capsule, for better or worse. With that being said, I feel there is no better time to write a book.
The Sacramento Republicans, however, are mere amateurs when compared to the Ray Ban kings in Washington. Republicans still cling to the myth that tax cuts not only cure all problems but even pay for themselves (something even Bush’s budget director conceded was not true). In 20 years of supply side economic rule, our national debt has grown by $7.5 trillion which shockingly is $3 trillion more (in current dollars) than during the many challenges and crises of the Roosevelt Truman era (which included the New Deal, World War II, the GI Bill, the Berlin Airlift and the Marshall Plan)..
But there was good news for the party that came out Wednesday. In two separate polls, one from Quinnipiac University and one from Monmouth University, the Democrats had significant leads on the generic congressional ballot a poll question asking people whether they plan to vote for the Democrat or the Republican in their House district. In January, Monmouth gave the Democrats a two point lead; it’s now nine points.
Damon: I think one of the special powers of great YA is its ability to pinpoint human potential at a time when our adult selves haven’t quite finished baking. Running With Lions has such a keen, crafty awareness of the memories that these kids are producing over the course of this epic summer, even if they don’t. That makes YA a twofer, because you can love it as a teen, but then revisit it later with a mature sense of irony and gratitude for having survived the epic hellscape of puberty..
Morals are sometimes difficult to evaluate unless you consider perspective and culture. I know that sounds pretty odd considering that most people think of “Right and Wrong” as being “Black and White”, but true morality has gray areas that don fit nicely into box A or box B. There is an option C which may or may not be valid, but that extra choice still exists.
