I started hanging out at the Comedy Store watching comedians, and the Comedy Store had just opened, it was 1972. We started talking and we ended up writing a script together that he gave to his dad, and his dad said, “God, this is really good!” And he gave it to an agent. And I just kept meeting people here and there, and finally I wrote a script for Sanford and Son that I got to the producers, and they loved it and they hired me.
I have some sort of paralyzing photo fear that causes this procrastination. I want the photos desperately, but then it seems I want to get on with life and can’t be bothered to move the precious keepsakes from someplace safer than, say, cardboard (no chance those boxes are acid free, lignin free and archival). I cut myself a break from the guilt after reminding myself that I’m a full time working mom and spare moments don’t grow on trees.
Also means that whenever we present someone’s words verbatim in text, we encase them within quotes or, in an audio report, make it clear that we are using the source’s wording. If we paraphrase for space or clarity, we transparently credit the source of the ideas. And we don’t lightly edit quotes just to avoid putting them in quotes; we use brackets, ellipses and other signals to make clear we’ve changed what someone said.
I love to implement something like this, I have a 17K follower instagram account which I grew organically (purely unpaid shout outs and word of mouth) However it is very niche and I confident the crowd that follows it would be unwilling to pay $20+ for t shirts and other accessories related to it. I say $20 cause it the minimum price I need to make a decent profit using Printful+Shopify. (It a meme account aimed towards people from Dominican Republic mostly, although most latin americans can relate) It has good engagement and real followers actually commenting and liking.
Best case scenario, you get full housing and transportation paid, with enough money left over for decent savings. Other (solo) ESL teachers I personally know actually take regular vacations back home, and that means literally thousands of dollars on plane tickets. I paid off all my student loans, and my wife student loans, after 3 years of teaching here.
Given marijuana’s popularity through decades of criminalization, it may come as no surprise that laws actually don’t have a huge impact on drug consumption. Just as banning a drug doesn’t make it disappear, legalizing marijuana won’t necessarily lead to an explosion in its use. The Dutch, famous for their relaxed drug laws, use marijuana far less than other Europeans and only about half as much as Americans.
