Cheney was just five years Bush’s senior, but carried himself with the gravitas of a much older man, and Bush treated him with more respect than anyone else in the inner circle. People in NPR’s newsroom and elsewhere within the public radio system have been thinking hard about NPR’s coverage, too. We will post some audience mail in our next column (more on that later), but for now here are some preliminary thoughts from me, taking into account input from others in the newsroom. I suspect these issues will eventually consume more than a couple columns of reflection..
That colorful little scrap of latex may end up living in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. It could get tangled up in the flippers of a sea turtle or be eaten by one who mistakes it for a jellyfish. Or a bighorn sheep could mistake it for forage, or it might land in some farmer’s pasture, where a cow chokes on the string.
